So maybe my question belongs in the Windows forum but it is strictly for mobile purposes, so here I am.
I am considering a new Windows laptop or convertible. I gave away my Windows machines to different family members over the years. My work PC's & laptop all still run Windows 7. I am torn between the tradeoffs of the XPS 13, Surface Pro 4, and Surface Book. My wife's laptops run Win 8 but they do not have touch screens.
What I am wondering, and have no experience with, is the value of a touch screen interface in Windows 10 for a laptop (or laptop mode for convertibles). Do you find it useful? Must have? Meh? Does it significantly change the experience of a Win 10 PC to you?
I know, first you're going to say all three of my choices have touch screens. Well ... I recognize the non-touch lower-res XPS 13 has a real advantage in battery life over its uber-touch-screen version. Makes that a tougher choice *unless* the benefit of touch in the OS is a game changer.
Then you're going to say, 'but Surface devices also have a real pressure sensing stylus.' Leave that off the table for the moment. I love the idea but it might not be as useful as it sounds. For taking notes I am used to using a keyboard and trackpad alone. For artsy pen input I'm used to separate tablets and still have a very nice Intuous 4.
